Where and How Do You Start?

Let’s begin with choosing the colors. What immediately comes to mind when you think of Valentine’s Day? You were probably going to say: Pink, Red, and White (maybe even Lavender). If you’re not interested in bright or bold, soften the ambiance with subtle shades of pink and white. However, if you love going bold, opt for more Red and add big splashes throughout. You just can’t go wrong when sticking with colors we all associate with February 14th. In fact, we think back to a scene from the well-known movie, Steel Magnolias, in which the bride describes what her wedding is going to look like. Her mother says she chose “pink and pink”. But she corrects her and proudly states that her two colors are ‘bashful’ and ‘blush’. Her mom thinks it is a little over the top for her church wedding and backyard reception, but the daughter argues that pink is her signature color. Is it your signature color too?

For the ceremony:

With your colors chosen, it’s time to move on to considering wedding decorations for your ceremony that enhance your Valentine’s Day theme.  If you will be exchanging vows in a more traditional church or quaint chapel, floral bouquets, or oversized decorative bows of satin ribbon or tulle placed at the ends of the pews will add to the air of romance for your special day. You can bring in large floral arrangements in vases or planters near the front of the sanctuary to frame you and your fiancé. Speaking of flowers, what do you think of first? Roses of course, or perhaps tulips – both classic, gorgeous choices for your February event.

For something unique to tie in your Valentine’s theme, you could opt for hanging heart-shaped, floral wrapped wreaths at the end of the pews that line the aisle you and your wedding party will be strolling. You can find many examples on Pinterest that are either DIY, or sold ready-made for order.
